The HDI, or Human Development Index, is a measure of a country’s progress in terms of human development. It is a composite statistic that takes into account three dimensions of human development: health, education, and standard of living. The HDI is used to rank countries by level of human development, with higher values indicating a higher level of development. It is used by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) as a way to measure and compare the development of countries around the world.
